We set out ungrouped and I was pleased with my results. I killed mobs and got 27 potions. Maybe I just had a lucky run, but I think Scavenging doesn't interfere with the potion, or if it does, that it's probably not the Potion that is affected. I got 10 stacks of cloth off of the mobs themselves. I don't know whether that's less than should be expected with Scavenging or not, off the top of my head.
But anyway, the treasure chest haul was pretty nice. It is a bit more work than the Eles though. The rogue got 77 lockboxes and a few stacks of rogue potions, and never had to stop while mobs were unpickable, so I think we may partner up for this sort of thing again in the future.
Comment by I wanted to share my recent experience. I'm an 85 Shadow Priest so I did single targets only. I was 3-shotting mobs in Uldum, non-stop. Comment by For tailors, this potion is a great thing. While you have to farm humanoid mobs for extra cloth drops scavenging works in Cata too , you also get these chests with various loot. After 30 minutes of farming in the restless front I've collected 7 chests.
Did not count the money coming from them. Comment by Parrky Best source of gold for these is in fact selling them on the AH! Comment by I'd suggest going to Twilight Highlands and killing water elementals to the west of Dragonmaw Port. In looting water elemntals, there is a significant drop rate of Volatile Water, which really adds up in addition to chests gathered.
The only downside is that the elementals are of course level 85, but they spawn very quickly and you should have no trouble killing them one after another with no breaks. In 1 hour I was able to obtain: From mobs: Obviously there has been a major boost in chest contents recently, because I can assure you, I checked each chest and counted the items individually and these are the exact number of items that I acquired in this farm run. Seems well worth it when farming mobs.
Will test in instances later. Comment by Here are the results of my first potion used. I farmed humanoids in Tol Barad for 1 hour. Needless to say I'll be using these more often. I had to check this out a second time. Same Spot. Just kill the soldiers at low health, loot, and continue on your way. By the time you get to the end, you can turn around and most, if not all, will have respawned behind you. The only things you have to worry about are other players questing and taking the mobs , or gankers.
Spammed Howling Blast on the mobs and got em down quick. Comment by Anyone try these in the Molten Front yet? Lasts 1 hour. Effect persists through death. Comment by these are completely useless to me, I dont have patience to farm very long though. But when I am farming volatiles I usually take one, and sometimes I kill 30 mobs without one treasure chest. I dont know why I barely get any chests. Comment by corners In firelands i seemed to get a lot.
I still had 30 minutes left and easily got 5 or 6 chests off the fire spiders. Comment by Velyanthe Spent 20 minutes in Tol Barad, got nothing. Went to kill troggs in Deepholm and suddenly they started to drop. Does it not work in TB anymore? Comment by As a priest killing the troggs in Deepholm with the Oracle trinket is pretty nice. I haven't kept track of chest drops before but kept count this last time, I had 28 chests in 1 hour, I just MS away.
I usually get about 85 BoEC after an hour. If you use this pot right it can really pay off. Comment by Loose After 1 hour of farming the groups of troggs fighting earthen in Deepholm.
Posting screens whenever i figure out how O. I couldn't believe it. I will keep note next time and report back. Comment by Best use of this potion follows a 3 step process. Due west of the Temple of Earth, there is a battlefield with dwarves and troggs fighting. You will wind up with, no joke, about 15 treasure boxes after minutes. You WILL need to empty your bags out before the potion expires.
Maybe twice. Comment by 6 chests in 35 minutes as a Prot war in Tol Barad and Twilight Highland let the remaining time ran out. Comment by Underlien For those wanting to get the most out of these potions, I can highly recommend farming the stone troggs between the needlerock slag and stonehearth in deepholm.
On my feral druid I was able to get ablout chests in only one hour! Bring a AOE strong class and you will kill tons of troggs in no time! Comment by zeromaster87 note it is possible to get more then just single volatiles out of these chests me and my gf are farming them and she got 5. Comment by Confirmed: Potion still works in Tol Barad even though it is not stated in the description.
Comment by Here's some stats from TB in the Rustberg Village, I didn't count how many mobs I looted tho' - sorry :- I'm a rogue with tailoring, so there might be a little more Embersilk Cloth than normal. Comment by Found it to be useful for farming volatile air in Uldum, of the Scions elementals.
Not counting the chests, I've noticed that the droprate increased while buffed. Need some more fieldtesting to confirm.. Happy farming :. Comment by StaticLgtBrngr Also works in the molten front, tested it earlier. Comment by Mooji I'm curious to try those Troggs in deepoholm. I've also made g before in one hour just from enchanting mats while farming, as well as one epic.
It's a beast spot, especially if you're on a pve server and don't have to worry about getting ganked. It's easier farming, gg mind sear, but it lacks the potential home run epic and idk if you can get the lockboxes in deepholm. Comment by Logged out last night Monday in the middle of a treasure finding potion, farming the restless front.
Came back this morning after the maintenance window, zeeeero treasure chests from the second half of the potion. Looks like they nerfed farming cloth from the restless front. A moment of silence, please. Comment by DennisTheGreat I love this potion! Always gonna bring some when leveling alts! Comment by Ossements A little economic tip for people selling these: If you can get more from selling the individual herbs than what you're selling the potion for, you're doing it completely wrong.
Comment by The best place to use this potion is when farming in deepholm Needlerock slag the trogs i make about g in a hour the chests also drop Pyrite ore and elementium ore.. Try it and you will see :. Comment by I have used 4 of these and made about 6k gold Comment by Not getting crap in Deepholm from the Trogs with this potion. Hardly worth my time Comment by nkchri2 I can save everyone a lot of reading and time by summing this up.
This pot increases your gold making by hard farming mobs. If you are farming mobs anyways for a specific item you need or farming because you don't want to buy mats off the AH, pick on of these up on the way out and you'll make some extra gold while you're at it.
Comment by ryandb2 Farmed with this potion for 1 hour in deepholm. The potion cost me g, so I still made a pretty good profit from it. All together I will make about 1. Comment by Kurasu If you are a person who does a lot of grinding, for instance a tailor who grinds their own cloth, a skinner, or someone who prefers grinding their XP to doing straight-up questing, then this potion is much more valuable used during one of these expeditions than sold.
And in a heavy farming session, 10 chests is not an unreasonable number to expect, with being quite possible. Potentially even more if one is AOEing fairly low level mobs. All in all, from averages shown above, g is not an unreasonable expectation in chest-drops from a hard farming session.
If you are not one who does a lot of grinding, however, or uninterested in a one-hour heavy kill-a-thon, then it is likely worth your time to put the pots up on the AH. They tend to sell on my server for more than the price of the herbs, and I've never had a pot sit for a full 24 hours before it gets snagged.
That may be dependent on server, of course; YMMV. Comment by Farming Troggs in Needlerock Slag under with pot vs without pot Gold looted and gold received from trash were virtually identical, roughly 35g per kills; however after opening my four chests, the potion loot was superior by this amount: 10 gold 4 green items disenchanted for 6 hypnotic dust, 3 lesser celestial essence 22 embersilk cloth that's 22 embersilk more than without potion, 40 embersilk total 2 pyrite ore 2 elementium ore 3 volatile air And these are some of the poorer chests that I've looted.
Depending on how fast you kill and what your AH market is like, loot with the potion can be worth your time for easy mat farming. Comment by jefslat Only getting an hour in Uldum while farming volitile air and embersilk, but the embersilk and air drops are higher there than anywhere else.
Comment by guuluoth I just spent an hour killing the spirit mobs in Uldum and ended up with ONE chest! However, when I use them on my main, I've always gotten chests. Has the drop rate been lowered or maybe just really bad luck Comment by After trying out many places, I finally found a great place to use the potion of treasure finding: at coordinates 60,30 in Twilight Highlands on the Obsidian Slaves.
In one hour, I obtained 18 treasure chests, plus many mats, counting the ones I got from disenchanting the greens obtained. I received 38 Volatile Earths from the slaves and more in the chests, 78 embersilk cloths counting the ones in the treasure chests and much more.
Altogether, I made out with about gold worth of mats, plus additional gold obtained from the treasure chests and looted from the humanoids that accompanied some of the slaves.
Not bad for a potion that cost me 65 gold. Comment by Woag Tried one of these for the first time today at the notion of a guildie. Not bad. Comment by Metalchic does anyone know if these work inside the dungeons in the mentioned zones? Comment by protosega Its a nice spend money to make money item. This kind of farming is good for stocking up guild banks, or your own personal bank.
Comment by These do work in the cata dungeons, but the best way to make use of em is to farm large groups of fast respawning mobs. I don't remember reading anything about a nerf, but I've noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of loot in the chests in the past week.
Comment by featalene I just tried one of these for the first time with no apreciable results for skinning. After an hour I had within the margin of error the same amount of leather I would have had without it. The only thing I got unusual was a only one tiny treasure box.
I was in the Twilight Highlands. Would be nice if they worked elsewhere to up the chance at zone drops. Comment by not sure if i'm the only one but when i used this i only got TWO treasure chests in one hour.
Comment by kryptrix I have constructed a simpler formula to find out this potions worth. I managed to kill things in 1 hour and get 10 boxes that is a 4. FYI I'm a max level elemental shaman with semi raid gear that killed mainly level 80 crabs in vash for an hour. I wouldn't recommend farming this way unless you are farming leather. You can make a small extra gold with this but you'd have to farm straight for an hour with no slacking!
Hardly worth the little bit of extra gold you get out of it. Now of course it may be cheaper if you buy the mats for the potion on your server.
But in my case I just made 94 g from mainly the cloth that came out of the boxes. Comment by I just farmed with one of these, cost about 60g in mats to make as an alchemist.
I tried the Trogg spot in Deepholm like many here advised. I probably farmed for around 50 minutes of the hour and here's what I came away with: Silver Drops and Trash Sales: 6 Stacks of Embersilk: 9 Green Gear: 19 Chest's dropped and from these: An additional If your farming the area, its worth picking up one of these, will double your embersilk along with everything else.
Im still not sure if the treasure chests are the only benefit to these, or maybe they increase the amount of loot dropped aswell. Edit: Ive used these quite a few times now, and I like them most because their fun, read around theres a chance the chests contain something rarer and along with some blue gear once today I looted the pattern: Formula: Enchant Bracer - Mighty Intellect, nice suprise!
I had about 3 minutes left on my Potion of Treasure Finding, and on the 5th kill, with about 20 seconds to spare, a Tiny Treasure Chest dropped. Wondering if it was a fluke, I decided to go ahead and drink another one.
My drop rate was pretty minimal 7 in one hour , so no idea if it's affected by the fact that it isn't in one of the tool tip areas. The embersilk you get in these treasure chests are very good amount, only the embersilk makes all this worth.
This is a good farming place, not a farmer myself, I just felt like farming and see how good this potion is. And now I know, it's good, but not for me, I earn more gold by playing with auction house in this time I spent on farming, but it was interesting nontheless!
I play on outland realm, therefor you can't judge the prices for what I sold everything for, it's different from realm to realm. Farmed between , did only see 2 alliance players while I was farming at this hour, they were not in the way at all.
Good luck farming! Got 44x Tiny Treasure Chest in an hour. Comment by i have been wondering do the potion work when looting or when you kill something for example i kill 20 mobs while under the potions effect but it wears off before i can loot them do lose the chance at getting the potion then and if i do can i then do something like kill 20 mob then use the potion and then have a chance at looting so my question is simply do the effect get added when a mob dies or when its looted?
In 1 hour, I get between and cloth pcs, which include the contents of all treasure chests. The number of chests have varied a lot for me, I've had anywhere from 20 to 40 chests per hour. Comment by paul So far they've been totally worth it for me. I pay about g for the potion and easily get the money back just from the embercloth I find which typically goes for g per stack on AH. Typically after the hour is done I end up about g richer from selling the mats that come off the mobs and in the chests.
My chosen area of farming is the Verall River in the Twilight Highlands plus the surrounding houses. The potion actually works very well in conjunction with the Thundermarr daily quests, because you have to kill a number of nasty dwarves to do them, and then you can keep killing around the river and houses for more drops, and turn in the quests for more gold after the hour is done. Comment by Well, for one hour's work in Deephome at the Troggs wish I'd counted the gold from looting and greys but I did not 40 chests- 11 stacks of Embersilk Cloth, 30 pyrite, 10 elelmentium, 90 volatiles and 1 green, gold 13 greens 8 stacks of Embersilk cloth I was very happy with those numbers.
I payed g for the potion I got about stacks of Embersilk cloth. I ended up getting g just from that alone. Comment by Tohuvabohu So basically this is worth it only if you can AoE the mobs quickly, or if say, your alt makes the potions for free Comment by pyrosvegeta these dont work in dungeons or raids. Comment by Viruser Keep in mind, Even if you do not find enough chests to cover the price of the potion although you do.
This potion is still profitable, Because it keeps you farming so that the potion doesn't go to waste :. Comment by burkhardts Omnishinzui thanks a bunch for finding that out! Comment by Valeor Does it work with Herbalism? Comment by These have been nerfed to the point of useless. The drop rate has been lowered so much, they might as well have just removed this completely from the game rather than let people waste an hour of their time trying. If the 2 players are in party, and 1 kills for the other which has the potion he will definitely get treasure chests depends on the drop chance.
I've tested this, and i killed mobs with someone in party, and we got about gold from sales for each after using the potion. Good luck everyone! Comment by Exodarian Does this benefit everyone in the party? So I could have someone else kill everything while I loot it :P. Comment by awskar I've been using this while farming Owls, Hippogryphs, wolves, and elk in Twilight Highlands.
Very good skinning spot if you keep your pace up. Unfortunately I think using these potions while skinning reduces the usefullness a lot just because of the downtime of skinning.
I'd just about break even or make g or less from these potions most of the time. There was once where I actually lost gold by using one, but overall I made gold. Now the prices have jumped up on my server and I don't think I will even bother with them anymore. I also don't like the feeling of being half way through a potion and still not having made my gold back, only to grind through it for almost nothing. Comment by Aadramelekh From my experience, the Stone Trogg Berserkers in Deepholm seem to be the most profitable to farm when under the effect of this potion.
Happy farming! Comment by Hotnhordey After my first run with my blood dk ilvl I got g off mobs embersilk 8 greens 9 elementium 10 pyrite 6 vol fire 3 vol water 9 vol life 2 vol earth 25g in trash items total after opened chests which was around 25 paid 15g for potion.
Comment by Pops Wow Just used one and after one hour of killing random mobs in Uldum I got: 4 Green items 6 Gray items no treasure chests I mean, without the potion, I probably would have gotten those greens and grays anyway. What gives? I've used them there before and have always gotten at least 4 or 5 treasure chests. Comment by I was able to loot 63 tiny treasure chests in one hour in the Verlok stand. I'm a protection warrior with the talent Bladestorm. I had to use Souldrinker in conjunction with Bladestorm because without it I would die due to lack of healing.
While using Bladestorm with Souldrinker incoming damage and healing are about equal, this way I could easily handle 20 or more Verlok's at a time and kill them in about 10 seconds. Comment by Doesn't work anymore in Tol Barad area, which is really a pity. I am all depressed as I was using it there to get my volatils and extras.
Too bad Blizzard. PS I tried it in Deepholm and Hyjal : two poor tiny treasure chests in 1 hour Comment by So, decided to try this on my shaman today, to see whether what people have been saying is true or not. So, I did 1 hour session, with the potion on, as a tailor. I ended up with 13 greens, 55 volatiles various , 18 elementium ore, 7 pyrite ore, in gold from greys and looting, and BOLTS of embersilk embersilk cloth.
Totally worth farming. I did the troggs around needlerock slag. Wish there was a place like this for frostweave. Please remember to report all the bots you see. I was competing with 5 bots on this day. It makes for terrible game environment. Comment by All of my guildies told me that this potion was not worth getting and was just a waste of time.
I still went ahead and bought the potion, and when I used it at level 89, I made g, plus about volatiles plus embersilk cloth and 12 greens. I bought the potion for 85g. I think it was well worth it! Comment by skye12 The Needle Rock Chasm in Deepholm has been changed, in which patch I am not sure, but there are no more trogs there. Does anyone know of another fast farming area like that one? Comment by remerson73 The best spot Is Deepholm And its bull!
You need to go to Verlok stand , That's where all the level 83 Verlok Shroomtender and Verlok Grubthumper are, they look like trogs there at about Just did it today With a level 90 Arms Warrior, Gear level With Bladestorm and second Wind.
I make my own Potion of Treasure FindingPotion. Don't for get about the 2 groups on the top ledge. It gives a little time for the bottoms to pop back up. The trogs take less then 45 secs to pop back up.
Run Number 1 g from looting, vendor trash and selling a unknown number of green gear. From the Chests I got! Not needed but does help. Please upvote if this helped you. Thank you and have a good time, Make sure to play some fast paced toons to get you pumped, Or you may drag ass and not get all that you could have. Comment by Jonae Currently path 5. Now what does this mean for everyone farming the Troggs while under the potion effects? I was reading through the 5.
Stone Trogg Geomancer now drops trivial items and can no longer be pickpocketed. Comment by Catoria One hour potion on a Demonology 90 lock. I must have missed the part where they nerfed the drop rate UP.
Last time, the tiny treasure boxes were far and few between. This time? One group yielded four. I know, because I darn near went into shock when I saw it happen. I looted G, and sold 41G worth of vendor trash after the run. I got thirteen greens, and one "Enchant Bracer: Agility," which would be worth a nice chunk of change had I not just dropped herbalism to pick up enchanting.
I had a 6g repair bill. Now for the contents of the tiny treasure boxes. All in all, not too shabby for one hour. Comment by Hey all i saw some of the comments about this being nerfed down and changes coming in newest mop patch. So i took out one of my toons to test.
I drank the pot at the ledge in deepholm like everyone suggested in the past. I killed 20 to 30 mobs. The loot is indeed now incidental. I got less then a gold for all of them. I then went to TB- based off of someones old post. I killed assorted mobs on the island. Sailors, ghosts, etc. What i found was Rustberg Village.. Their spawn rate was fairly quick, you could work one side of the dock go to the other and go back and forth without really stopping you may stop with higher dps.
Im not sure when i decided to start in the potions duration but i can tell you i did not get a chest to drop until 34 min in. After that i stayed on those mobs and hunted them. And got one about every 5 to 6min. My take was 6 chests in basically 25min. I can also tell you i killed over mobs.
I had the DMF quest for grizzly trophies. And it was at 0 at the start. So if you want to do some estimates and theories.. Chests didnt seem to drop as much items inside: 3g on average per chest. However from just farming for cloth there as a tailor i got close to 18 stacks. Hope this helps. Comment by starman Level 90 mage.
I had no idea this was nerfed. I went to my usual spot in Needlerock in Deepholme and after 15 minutes I got no chests, no greens, nothing except a little gold from each group. Last run I did with this in 5. So yeah, this was nerfed.
Moved to Hyjal for 5 minutes, nothing. Twilight Highlands for 10 minutes, nothing. Question is: was this nerfed for characters over 85? The mobs were still green to me, not gray.
I'm just trying to figure out why this still sells for g on my server and it's completely useless. Comment by Dragonarcher This post is being posted because i reacted to the previous person about one of my favorite places to farm with this item is in Twilight Highlands that has been nerfed. The nerf itself must have only happened to your server only, because just as my previous hours with this potion, i am still getting the same amount of everything as ever even in patch 5.
I am aswell a level 90 mage Tailor. Thank you. Comment by Worthless in 5. Don't waste any mats making them. Don't waste your time when you could be doing something else.
Just vendor any you might have. Comment by stacyeLeigh This was my first trip thru Uldum with an Alchemy toon and I checked here first about the potion. Didn't sound good. I thought "Oh well I had to make it to level, so why not" I don't know what it did before but I can tell you I picked up quite a bit of Embersilk cloth and a few handfuls of the tiny treasure chest.
Each chest had about gold. My advice would be: "If you have it, use it. Comment by Rynii I decided to try one of these while farming embersilk cloth in Tol Barad Peninsula with my lvl 90 assassination rogue tailorer. The potion cost me gold on the AH. Not a huge profit, but still worth it in my opinion.
Comment by Minetje I'm not sure if it's mentioned in any of the posts on this subject but does anyone know if this potion works in the 5man instances in Uldum? The runs I did after the first one were much better with drops between about 6 and 9 per run wasn't that bad. I used a potion of treasure finding and show all of my loot at the end which includes several chests and stacks of cloth. Comment by Lilus Here to report that as of July 30th, that The Restless Front in Tol Barad is still an extremely decent spot to farm with one of these potions.
As a result I went ahead and had it all broken down into enchanting mats. Overall not a bad investment at all! Comment by Lilus Got a bit more to add. Granted anyone can do this but you can make a killing by turning the cloth and dust into Embersilk Bags.
The key here is quick runs and minimal boss encounters. Just prior to the hallway leading to the final boss remove your gear and suicide into the trench in the middle of the hallway. Enter GB to get your body, leave, reset and then re-equip for another run. Even if you aren't that great at clearing quickly or are playing a class that has trouble doing so you can easily run GB three times in an hour.
As always server economy will determine how much you make. On most servers however this is an easy K per hour if you make and sell bags. Comment by Tyrdorius I can confirm that this works in raids as well now, looted a few boxes from BoT. Comment by Bumfuzz 1 chest from 35 minutes of farming. Has it been nerfed? Comment by chick I'm thinking this has been nerfed while using it in grim batol..
Comment by Dragonarcher Hence this is outside any dungeon, and a farm place ive been farming for many years, the place in twilight highlands The Twilight Gate , right under BOT "Killing the grps of ogres". The Farming itself is as same as ever, sometimes lucky, sometimes extremely lucky. I decided to go try this place once again since because of the rumors of a nerf inside a dungeon, so wanted to see if it has changed anything outside in the world. In one hour using this potion, here is what my total drop was.
Comment by mnaylor89 As other have said this item appears to have been nerfed quite a lot in dungeons at least. I cannot see any notice of this in any patch notes but I have done some testing and it certainly seems this way.
I have tested 10 potions in the last week in Gim Batol and after 10 runs each hour I was lucky to get chests I only got 5 from 10 runs from 1 of the potions. Previously I was getting 3 times this at least. This does not appear to have been nerfed outside of dungeons however I am currently still searching for a spot that has a good enough spawn rate to make using it worth while.
Though even just travelling round the dailies area in TH and the ogre area below BOT the drop rate was noticeably higher around a 1 in 20 chance of the chest dropping. Many of the old spots in Uldum, Deepholm and Twilight highlands have been nerfed a while back. As this potion tends to sell for around - gold on my server it appears to no longer be worthwhile buying one to use in Grim Batol. I have not tested it in other Cataclysm dungeons yet however I assume it will be the same, I will test them after Christmas and update this comment if it is any different in Stonecore etc.
The above being said Grim Batol is still a viable farming spot for cloth and greens 3 - 4k an hour depending on how fast you can run it but for now at least it is probably better not to use the potion unless you can get them cheap or make your own.
Comment by Dragonarcher This new post is a reply to the user Bundfalke with a video proof of me gaining the full amount of embersilk cloth, gold and green items within the 60minute time period of Potion Of Treasure Hunting.
This video isnt edited in anyway to prevent me from cheating, and by cheating i mean editing so its a clean 60min straight through, theres also no sound i play wow without sound and listen to music Do remember that i sometimes stand still because im either answering a phone or opening a door but it should only last for a few seconds at time. Started coming here with 13 Silver and 24x Embersilk cloth, after the full hour i left with a total of Embersilk Cloth Gold 37x Green items 33x from monster drops, and the other 4 from tiny chests and the rest of the stuff, disenchanted, elementium boxes Do remember that if u decide to skip tru the video till the 60 minute mark where the counting starts, you can see that i already have disenchanted mats, this was to make sure that i gain extra room for more green drops since i wanted to count how many i can get within the 60minute mark from only monster drops, then the opening of chests.
Heres what i got, id say its alot less with the boxes, but heck of alot more in the green items. Feel free to suggest any other places you want me to try and use the potion of treasure finding, any other raid or dungeon is just fine, thanks.
Comment by llubtoille Seems to work fairly well on firelands trash, about a dozen per clear plus a good chunk of gold and vendor trash. Also a vendor right at the entrance. Especially if chain pull everything, only then use the potion, zerg everything down and loot.
Reset instance, for fast and great results :D. Comment by Wartsi I just tried this on Firelands trash. I did pulls and pulled basically everything except for trash before the individual bosses, as well as the groups around the Lava pools in front of Baleroc. I'm a itemlvl prot warrior, but it still started to hurt a bit when there's a lot hitting me.
Anyway, I vendored all greys and greens I wouldn't recommend the latter, if you got a enchanter; disenchant it instead. All in all, I guess about k depending on server economy. At current saleprice on my server it's g.
Mobs are easier to kill and doesn't hit as hard. I hope you could use this. They are at best vendor trash. It is likely they will be removed from the game completely during BfA. Although, in 4. Since 4. Also, since 4. As of 6. My own experience using 6 Potion of Treasure Finding during 6 runs of Grim Batol 5 normal, 1 heroic , 6 runs of The Vortex Pinnacle 5 normal, 1 heroic , 6 runs of Halls of Origination 5 normal, 1 heroic , 7 runs of Throne of the Tides 6 normal, 1 heroic and 7 runs of The Stonecore 6 normal, 1 heroic , I received a total of 3 Tiny Treasure Chest.
However , I wondered if phasing may be causing an issue in the questing zones, i. And, this: Unless you can make them for yourself or somehow get them for free , the drop-rate of Tiny Treasure Chest still makes the cost:benefit of using Potion of Treasure Finding a losing game But does RNG really love anyone?
I was able to group them and AoE pretty effectively, which really improved the drop-rate for Tiny Treasure Chest , enough so that I burned a 2nd Potion of Treasure Finding. I farmed spiders right up until the next battle timer ran out about 1 hour and 40 minutes total and gathered 39 x Tiny Treasure Chest.
By far, the most I ever had drop in one run. I then tried my luck in the entry of The Bastion of Twilight , clearing the first room and stopping before the first boss Halfus Wyrmbreaker , then I ran out and reset.
Each pass varied significantly, none on the first pass, 7 x Tiny Treasure Chest on the second pass, 1 x Tiny Treasure Chest on the third, 1 x Tiny Treasure Chest on the fourth, and 5 x Tiny Treasure Chest on the fifth and last.
Again, by grouping and AoE, I was able to see a definite improvement in the over-all drop-rate, but still not consistently high enough to justify the use of Potion of Treasure Finding in the instance. Why would it change? The item is still in the game and the last major patch 7. It works in any Cataclysm zones including dungeons. Powerlord They nerfed how many mobs spawned in that spot, and when I asked in trade chat I was met with mixed answers.
I guess I can just try, but each potion is g. Are you sure it's even worth spending g on that potion? The items you may get from it will be a lot cheaper if you buy them off the auction house directly. Also the materials for making it are not worth g either. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes.
